A truly lovely Lachenal Excelsior model -the one with decorated ebony ends, metal buttons and gold -tooled bellows.
It is number13486 which would be mid-Victorian in age.
It was a high quality instrument at the time and had glass buttons-which were top spec.
The bellows are green leather-which you don't get on the later ones -and the engine-turned strapscrews are of a different-and nicer-design than the later ones.
It is fitted with new pads, straps, valves and is tuned to conccert pitch.
It is in amazing condition for a concertina of its age and plays beautifully -with a much less strident tone than some later models. I absolutely love it and it would be great for song accompaniment-not that it is slow-it isn't-but it is more mellow.
Comes in a luxury padded gig bag. All of our concertinas go out in cases but I usually forget to mention it.
Just one of a huge range of concertinas of every type and quality, only a tiny fraction of which are shown on the website.
