This is a Lachenal Edeophone treble No 60122-c 1930.
It is true that a lot of Lachenal's budget instruments of that period are poor-but the opposite is true of their top instruments-usually they are at the highest level .
This Edeophone has ebonised ends, erinoid buttons, steel reeds and 6 fold bellows. It comes in an original Salvation Army hard case.
It has just come back from restoration where it was fitted with new pads, valves, straps and tuned to concert pitch.
Most Edeophones have metal buttons but this is the second I have had with erinoid ones -both were from the same era and both had Salvation Army connections. I have also had a couple of Edeophones with ivoroid ends and they had green erinoid buttons-and they were a top model in 1930.
This instrument plays really well and is a delight to use. It is quick with a light action and very responsive reeds.
One of a huge range of English concertinas not listed on this site. At present I have about five Edeophones in stock-but that will obviously change if this instrument remains in stock-but it really shouldn't!
