Make : Lachenal
Model : Inimitable
Price : £1300
A lovely old Lachenal-probably from around the 1860 period-with decorated rosewood ends, metal buttons , steel reeds and 5 fold bellows.
It has been restored with new pads, valves, straps and tuned to concert pitch. This instrument could conceivably have been made with steel reeds-but it could also have been factory fitted with them at a later date-which we do see quite frequently.
It is in very good condition for its age -with no obvious damage to the ends, a few small minor surface cracks-but you won't see one of these without them.
The bellows are pretty and are in very nice condition. The real surprise is that it is quite bright in sound which you rarely get with concertinas of this age. It would hold its own in a tune session.
Comes in a battered old leather case but i might be able to find a wooden case to fit it.
One of a whole pile of English concertinas in stock.
