I have only ever seen one of these in my 44 years of buying concertinas. This is a Wheatstone Aeola which is 10.5 inches across the fretted ends. It is in the archives as 26652-a Bass-Treble. It has 76 keys-the C,s are in brass -or gold plate.
The ends are almost certainly of ebony but are undyed so it is very dark brown -not jet black. The buttons are metal, the reeds are steel and it has 8 fold bellows.
It comes in its original case which is rough but still works.
The concertina was bought by me already recently restored with new pads, valves, straps and tuned to concert pitch.
Its lowest note is a C -which won't read on my tuner-but the one an octave above reads C3 so I imagine that the lowest note is C2-it certainly sounds like the note you would find on a bass-but this concertina is of course double action.
It has the mellow sound of a wooden-ended instrument and would be great for playing parts in a band-or song accompaniment.
Usually I say that I have a lot of similar models available to any concertina I list but that isn't true of this instrument. You might never see another for sale-so if it is the sort of thing that you have always considered-better move quickly!
