It has rosewood stained mahogany ends, a finer fretwork than the basic mahogany model, bone buttons, steel reeds and 6 fold bellows.
It has been fitted with new pads, valves, straps and tuned to concert pitch.
It was originally built in A/E as it is stamped on the reeds.
Some of the buttons are quite worn which makes me believe that it is on its second set of bellows -as it would almost certainly have had 5 bellow folds originally.
It is in good condition with some wear marks on the ends but no real damage. The bellows are good -and as I expected when I saw the serial number-the reeds are great.
It plays easily and is balanced-with a fabulous tone -rich and mellow. I am not certain how much of that comes from the reeds and how much from the key it is in-probably a bit of both.
A/E is not a very unusual key but almost all of them are changed to G/D-and this would make a great G/D. I am just hoping that there is someone out there who could use an A/E for their needs-if not I will retune to G/D after it has had its time on the website.
