A Wheatstone No 5619-which I think I have found in the ledgers in 1854 where it cost over 7 Guineas!
It ha s rosewood ends, bushed bone buttons , brass reeds and 5 fold bellows.
It has just been fitted with new pads, valves, straps, a bellows refinish and tuned to concert pitch.
As it has baffles of pine behind the fret it has that very strange, gentle, oboe like tone that you only get with this sort of instrument at this period.
I guess I have to call it a tutor model but it is a very decent one that could well suit a singer as well as a learner as it is loud enough but not sharp and I can imagine it being a good accompaniment instrument.
Another one of a massive range of English concertinas which are not on the site. If you are looking for something special just call us-preferably on the landline as that is always switched on!
