A very tidy Lachenal New Model Maccann-the model with the raised ends-and Lachenal's second top model after the Edeophone.
This one has raised metal ends, metal buttons, steel reeds and a brand new set of quality, leather ,6 fold bellows.
It has been restored with new pads, valves, straps and is tuned to concert pitch.
It plays really well and is a lovely looking instrument No 3103 -which would be around 1916.
What is different about it is that the pitch on every button has been taken down by two semitones so that what is normally a C is now a Bb and so on through the instrument.
The likelihood is that it was retuned for the Salvation Army whom tended to play in the flat pitches. That would be more complicated if it was done on a normally tuned instrument-but if it was repitched you could play in the usual fingering pattern but come out in Bb.
I realise that not many people would want that repitch-but if you played for a singer-especially a lady as that is a great key for a lot of female singers -or with clarinet or brass-it would be a great and rare instrument under those circumstances so that Bb was the home key.
Just one of a large range of Duet concertinas-few of which are on the website.
