A lovely little instrument.
A Wheatstone tutor no 18747 from 1891.
It has rosewood ends, bushed bone buttons-the bushings are important as they keep action noise down-nickel reeds and 5 fold bellows.
It is in lovely original condition-although I think that the bellows are a later replacement.
It has just been restored with new pads, valves, straps and tuned to concert pitch -which costs a lot of money to have done!
It plays very well for a budget instrument and is fast enough for anyone-even an intermediate player-but it is mellow and not very loud-as you would expect with nickel reeds which were asdvertised as suitable for "chamber music" -in other words-indoor playing where volume was not a major consideration.
