A Lachenal concertina No 29707 which I think will be around 1889-90. It is labelled for Kohler and Son, 116 Victoria St, Westminster
It has bushed bone buttons-the bushings keep the action quiet-rosewood ends, brass reeds and 5 fold dark green bellows.
It has been restored with new pads, valves, a number of springs, straps and tuned to concert pitch.
It plays really well for a budget concertina as it has very nicely made reeds.
It is as fast as a reasonable steel-reeded one-has a light action and the wonderful gentle tone that you get from an early brass-reeded and baffled instrument.
I think it is a lovely concertina and a great starter instrument which is noticeably better than the really cheap ones.
One of a huge range of English concertinas-most of which are not on the site.
