|Type : Anglo|
Make : Wheatstone
Model : 36 Key in C/G
Price : £3500
A very good playing 36 key anglo from Wheatstone-number 50885 which I am pretty certain is just before the Second World War.
It has metal ends, metal buttons, proper traditional steel reeds in brass frames and 6 fold bellows.
It has been restored with new pads, valves and tuned to concert pitch.
There is a lot of confusion about this period of Wheatstone's production.
Instruments up to just over 33000 serial number are top period. In the two or three years following 1933 the instruments certainly look cheaper-and have non-riveted action-but the reeds are the same quality as top period. After the War everything-including the reeds has been cheapened and -with odd exceptions- they are not in the World of the earlierinstruments.
This is probably about 1938 and has the top period reeds -and it is obvious by the playing.
If you want a really good playing Wheatstone as good as the top ones -probably not looking as classy but with no difference in tone or speed-but about £2000 cheaper -this could be for you.
