This is a tutor model Lachenal English concertina-but not a bottom end tutor model-quite a high grade one.
It has rosewood ends-the better quality ends with fancier fretwork and edgework-bushed bone buttons-which the lesser models do not have-and five fold instead of four fold bellows.
It has had the ends re-finished,new bushings, valves, pads and straps fitted and tuned to concert pitch.
It aslso has a bellows re-bind and re-paper.
It is basicaslly brass reeds but has a few steel replacements.
What makes it more special is the way it plays-way, way better than most tutor models. It is really quite fast-not stodgy like so many of the budget models. I find it a pleasure to play for an instrument in this price range.
It comes in an original Lachenal wooden case which I have not restored-as I don't have time-but it is certainly restorable -and will protect the concertina in shipping.
Just another of a huge range of English concertinas from the very basic to the most spectacular and rare top examples.
